Export Documents and Payment Procedures for Foreign Trade

If you are looking to expand your market overseas, but need help with the preparation of export documents or understanding payment procedures for foreign trade, then the service offered by Point-to-Point is for you. We can also assist those companies who already have an established export business by preparing the export documentation for them and thus freeing staff to develop the key business.

Point-to-Point helps issue all documents relevant to the various payment methods for exported goods, explains how the various procedures work and analyses the risks to both buyer and seller.

Point-to-Point can assist with documentation for payment by:

  • Cash Against Documents, whereby the buyer pays the bank holding the necessary clearing documents before obtaining the goods.
  • Letters of Credit, which holds the buyer to an irrevocable bank payment to be made once the seller ships the goods with all the documentation specified. The safest arrangement for both shipper and buyer, letters of credit are easy to modify and allow for flexible financing options. We help you identify the documents and procedures required for the preparation of a standby letter of credit contract.
  • Forfeiting, under which the buyer agrees negotiable term bank drafts from which the seller can obtain funds after shipment.
  • Lines of Credit, a bank payment facility (normally for very large contract values) initiated by the buyer.

Our services don't end there.  Point-to-Point will help you through all the to clear customs checks, such as Certificate of Origin and EUR1; obtain import and export licences;  shipping, including international insurance; any specialist documentation.  Our involvement is always as much or as little as the client requires.  Typically we undertake the following:

  • Liaison with all those affecting the issuance and substance of the documentation being prepared.
  • Content and wording checks to ensure the contracts are workable.
  • Third party document checks, for bills of lading for example.
  • Assistance with the presentation of paperwork to banks.

Our Commitment to You!

At Point to Point we aim to provide a practical and cost effective service to companies and individuals who wish to enter the export marketplace.  We will always endeavour to:

  • ensure you are paid on time with minimum costs;
  • assist you in accepting all types of export orders with confidence;
  • offer a pro-active, synergetic service that adds value to your business

and of course maximise satisfaction for you and your customer.

Currently, these include International Commercial Terms (Incoterms) 2000 and Letters of Credit.  Designed not to intrude significantly into the working day, Point-to-Point training is delivered in sessions lasting no more than two to three hours, although actual duration is entirely dependent on your requirements.  Call us today for a quote, more information or just for advice.
